Run and terminate cable, set switches and trunks, and manage VOIP phones.During out 2013 Annual Training I worked closely with a Senior Administrator, leading our efforts to upgrade our Battle Command and Control System, from Windows 2003 R2 to Windows 2008 Enterprise, rebuilding our Active Directory structure, upgrading to SQl and Exchange 2007 as well as rebuilding and restructuring our Share Point server. Working closely with the senior admin we upgraded the server side of the application as well as the client portion. During the process we also changed the server configuration eliminating unused software components and streamlining the system for better response and more efficient use of system resources. Following the guidelines set forth by the Security Template and Integration Guide (STIG) we harden systems against outside interference via Group Policy management and Registry settings. In the Redhat 5 and 6 arena most of the STIG suggested settings are managed at the System level via normal system configuration files. During normal operation, systems are fed and water as needed, to include critical kernel updates, critical system updates, disk space management, audit and system log review and deployment of relevant system or management software patches. All of these services are provided for several thousand systems, including ESX hosts, SQL Database servers Windows 2k3 R2 and 2k3R2 Active Directory and DNS and IIS servers as well as Red Hat 5 and 6 application (Tomcat, JBOSS) and web (Apache) servers.
