(The Rev. Canon) Nicholas T. Porter is the executive director and founder of Jerusalem Peacebuilders, an interfaith, non-profit, organization dedicated to promoting leadership and peace education among Israeli, Arab and American youth. An Episcopal priest and educator, Nicholas has lived, worked and travelled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. He lives in Brattleboro with his wite and daughters. His latest projects are to open a summer peace camps in Lebanon for refugee teens from Syria's warring sects and to design a Youth Peace and Leadership Empowerment curriculum for use in Jerusalem.Jerusalem Peacebuilders (JPB) promotes transformational, person-to-person, inter-faith encounters with the peoples of Jerusalem and the wider the Middle East. We specialize in immersive, experiential learning for youth and adults both in the United States and abroad. Each summer, JPB sponsors residential peace-camps for Israeli, Palestinian and American teenagers. During the autumn and winter, JPB’s educational initiative brings informed and creative interdisciplinary teaching about the peoples, religions and challenges of the modern Middle East into high-school classrooms. Each spring, JPB leads pilgrimage expeditions for adults to the Middle East that advance knowledge, friendship and personal growth.
