Student Physical Therapist at The Ohio State University planning to pursue a D.P.T./Ph.D. with a career focus in biomechanics and biokinesiology.My passion for human performance developed at a young age. Growing up in an active family, I was involved in every activity I could get my hands on; it was the swish of a net that captivated my attention. As I pursued competitive basketball, I began to feel the pressure of stereotypes - being an Asian basketball player. This ontology weighed even heavier when I witnessed my father pass away my senior year of high school. To be successful, I learned to tackle my goals one step at a time. This mindset has translated to academics; my participation as a mathematics and biomedical engineering researcher during undergrad provided me with invaluable skills in critical thinking. Throughout my research, I cultivated my ability to problem solve while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.While research has provided me with invaluable experience, hands-on interactions are vital to developing a holistic view of the human body. I have worked two other jobs pertaining to kinesiology: I served as a physical therapy aide and assistant varsity basketball coach. The heartwarming progress of assisting patient recovery fuels my passion for researching methodologies to support these patients’ well-being.Outside of my career, my life is truly multi-dimensional. God blessed me with many talents and I have enjoyed pursuing each one to a degree of excellence. Playing drums in both the jazz orchestra and marching band at Fresno State, expressed the creative side of me. Off the court and music set, I spend much of my time giving back to the community. I have also devoted countless hours to community service in the Fresno area through organizations such as Camp Kesem.
