Relief Operating Summer Student

Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada

· I learned an incredible amount over my summer term, and I feel that I greatly developed my communication, time management, organizational and planning skills, and improved my ability to perform under stress. · I was responsible for roughly 35 oil and gas producing wells, many of which also had on-site sales gas compressors, as well as two large water disposal plants· My job was to ensure the pumps and compressors were maintained and stayed running, to optimize production through speeding up/slowing down pumps based on the fluid level down hole, booking services such as flushby’s and well loads to diagnose and solve production issues, and to book loads of fluid to be hauled out of on-site tanks· I was constantly dealing with new issues that arose daily, including engine skids and compressors going down, wells down in production, truckers getting stuck or rescheduling loads, water disposal alarms and more. It was my responsibility to take care of any problems that occurred, which often meant doing overtime until all was running smoothly again. I was on call for 24 hours per day for the 8 days in a row I worked.

Summer Student

Kingston, Ontario, Canada

· This past summer I had the opportunity to work at Pure Ingenuity Inc., a custom stainless steel and aluminum processing equipment and machinery manufacturer. It was an incredibly rewarding experience.· It was very hands-on and I learned to operate a grinder, band saw, hydraulic press break, pyramid rollers, shear, dynafile, chainfalls, sandblaster, and belt sander. I also learned to layout markings on tanks, purge welds, remove electrical outlets, wire, and conduit, tap holes for bolts, dug sloped drainage ditches, move concrete, roll large tank bodies out of sheet metal, deburr lasercut pieces, dolly welds, and insulate tanks · One of my major responsibilities was supervising confined space entries such as grinding and welding inside steel tanks. I received training as a Confined Space Attendant, filled out and filed permits, monitored gas levels within the tanks, and created entry/exit plans· I worked under the supervision of Engineers, and worked with welders, millwrights, machinists, and a general contractor. During my time at Pure Ingenuity, I spent most of time working on the brewery they were building, but also worked on a variety of other projects.

Millwork Hand

Calgary, Canada Area

Working at Dirtt was a great learning experience. The 12 hour shifts were tough but the work was rewarding. I worked on the factory floor doing odd jobs such as sanding, lifting, routing, and cleaning to name a few. I gained experience working around heavy construction equipment such as CNC machines and forklifts. I found it fascinating to watch as raw materials were transformed into a myriad of products, as I was able to see every step of the manufacturing process.

Landscaper

Grassmasters Lawncare

GrassMasters was a professional and reliable lawn care and landscaping service based in Calgary, Alberta. I founded the company with two friends, and it was a great experience. We provided the following services to weekly and biweekly clients:-Mowing/Trimming-Fertilizing-Pruning/Maintaining preexisting landscapes-Weed removal and pesticidesWe also laid sod for several clients over the course of the summer. I learned a lot running my own company, including the importance of organization and scheduling. I also learned to manage money, including paying myself and my partners, as well as making purchases that were necessary daily work such as a new mower, bags, weed killer, among others.
