About Nicholas George
Hello! I’m Nicholas George, a freshman Finance and Accounting student at Robert H. Smith School of Business. This summer I had the privilege of interning with the Maryland Judiciary. I served the state of Maryland as a Judiciary Intern at the Rockville District Court. In this role, I was responsible for preparing case files and worked within the accounting department to prepare documents for payable tickets.My interest in the field of Finance and accounting began when I started my first company at 14 years old. I founded George Landscaping in my freshman year in high school, combining my interest in landscaping and entrepreneurship. As I grew the company funding philanthropic projects became a priority. Two years ago, we sponsored the construction of a Little Free Library in a community we serve, allowing increased access to literacy. I learned more about philanthropy and service during my time at So What Else, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing food and social services for the greater DC Metro area. During my time as a senior intern, I learned about non-profit management working with peers to assist the team in fundraisers of the month, event planning, and the management of existing programs. During my free time, I love to explore nature and go hiking. I am currently a team leader for an Adopt a Stream group that works to preserve a .5-mile stretch of stream and embankment twice annually.
