About Nicholas Werner

Early career scientist with experience conducting field research, lab-based data analysis, program administration, and grants management. I am also certified in Geospatial Analysis (GIS) and Project Management, and have exceptional science communication skills. My overall interests are marine ecology conservation (sharks and rays; marine protected areas – successes and shortcomings), sustainable fisheries (balancing the management of fish stocks while maintaining coastal economic security; challenges associated with aquaculture expansion), and ocean technology (applications of GIS in ocean planning; drones for coastal conservation). I hope to position myself at the intersection of research and policy, working to communicate science at an international level and encouraging sound conservation management decisions based on the most current, innovative research.
