The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities is uniquely situated within the City of Houston as it is a small office with few resources, but an incredible team that manages to create a Houston that is accessible to all. Our job is to ensure complete access to city properties, events, and services for Houstonians regardless of disabilities. Within this role I focused on three main service lines; Accessible Communications, Office Management, and Emergency Management and Response.Focusing on accessible communication, I underwent WebAIM's Accessible Documents training and learned quickly the dos and don'ts of accessibility features in various social media platforms as well as internal communications efforts like Microsoft Teams and Zoom. I successfully launched a newsletter with hundreds of subscriptions that went out to partner agencies and anyone who opted in via our website which lent insight into the daily operations of our office as well as highlighting any disability-related events or activities of interest to our readership. I also managed internal office communications through written press releases, media relations, PowerPoint presentations, and a re-brand of our office logo and motto. One highlight of my almost three years within this department was leading Accessible Communications training with city staff, regional workgroups, and statewide communicators through created materials, presentations, and as a Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) 2022 conference speaker.As a city communicator, I also held a role within our Emergency Management department as a member of the Joint Information Center. In this role I assisted in five named no-notice weather events including Winter Storm Uri, Hurricane Laura, and Tropical Storm Nicholas monitoring media outreach, creating accessible content, and ensuring disability, access, and functional needs (DAFN) outreach was met.

Working for a small business means I was fortunate enough to gain experience in many different roles as multiple departments became lumped together during my tenure at Kraftsmen Baking LLC. Primarily I was responsible for maintaining our social media presence on Instagram and Facebook and I did this by focusing on creating a portfolio of in-house photography of new products and specials and events with a mix of targeted advertisements/promotions and unpaid-for content. I was able to increase our following twenty fold during my time and increase overall post engagement. I also operated as product research and development, finding the next trends in the baking and restaurant industry to be the first in our local market to have a product for the masses. In this capacity, I worked with our pastry chef, bakers, and salespeople to make sure there were appropriate flyers, materials, and promotions to create awareness of our products. I also ran our procurement department, creating a relationship with over 15 vendors to ensure we purchased the product we needed at the lowest possible market price and ensuring availability of said product year-round. In this department, I also was able to negotiate with ownership and salespeople to create a healthier price-point for our business to make sure we were not losing money while keeping up with our competition.During my time at Kraftsmen, I also had the unique opportunity to head the design and open of the second cafe in a different area of town. This was part of a special project with the building developers to create a rotating cafe presence in the building. As their flagship cafe, I was able to take creative control over the aesthetics and functionality of the space and we ran a profitable business their during our one year contract. Lastly, I was also interim Cafe Manager to both cafes for a year and was in charge of creating training programs, hiring, and scheduling of the staff, as well as fielding any questions.

Music reviewer for the Buzzing Daily section of The Wild Honey Pie. This consists of finding recent single releases to submit for review as well as 2-3 write-ups per week.

I was introduced to Print with Me in the fall of 2016 and quickly fell in love with the concept and idea behind a print share platform that allows the modern young professional to skip out on the hefty purchase of a heavy duty printer while allowing them the ease of access and reliability of high quality printing through the use of an app. At Print With Me I go around to the Houston Area locations to offer technical support on printers that may be acting up without having our Chicago based technicians fly down to repair. I also work with location supervisors in having marketing and brand material displayed so that all customers are aware that a printing station is available for their use.

Directed a staff of 15 photographers, 5 designers, as well as stylists and editors to produce the best content possible for our publication.

I assisted photographers in the Meredith Photo Studio with managing equipment and filing shots selected by Art Director for three months in the system database. I then moved to the editorial department for 6 different Special Interest Publications under the Better Homes and Gardens umbrella where I contacted sources about featured products, wrote sidebars and front of book pieces, as well as co-art directed photo-shoots.

I edited scholarly journals for Prof. Abrahamson as well as helped maintain his schedule and assisted with secretarial duties such as copying and filing.
