As the Director of Operations & Technology, I am responsible for overseeing the 3D imaging of occupied commercial and residential buildings throughout the United States. My team and I utilize a combination of mobile and static laser scanning to efficiently and accurately capture up to 500,000 sqft of warehouse space and 100,000 sqft of office space per day. I am always able to ensure that the vast amounts of data we collect, sometimes totaling terabytes, are promptly processed and shared with the relevant team members in the office. My ability to coordinate and execute cross-country projects with quick turnaround times has been integral to the success of the company.When a BIM4Sites client was faced with a large-scale project requiring the surveying of more than 3,000 buildings across the country to be completed in less than a year, I was able to successfully bid, plan, hire and coordinate a team of 10 individuals broken up into 5 crews, to meet this tight deadline. While I was coordinating these crews, I was still managing BIM4Sites production of more than 14,000,000 sqft of floorplans. My ability to manage daily operations and coordinate multiple crews has been essential to the success of this project and the company as a whole.

As the Director of Laser Scanning, I had the privilege of traveling the world and capturing detailed 3D images of a wide variety of structures and facilities using laser scanning technology. My work ranged from small petrol stations to large refining plants and rockets. In my role, I collaborated with executives to sell laser scanning services to plant division directors and demonstrated the capabilities of our technology through various projects. I also provided technical guidance and solutions to challenges faced by our international partners. In addition, I played a key role in the development of training programs for field technicians and technology initiatives for executives. My ability to efficiently process and transmit terabytes of data to the office was critical to the success of our projects. While I have since moved on to new opportunities, I have recommended several colleagues and friends to the company due to my belief in their team and vision.

As The Director of Operations & Technology, I was responsible for implementing new technology and processes that improved efficiency and quality across the company. My hardware, software, and workflow improvements were designed to be easy to understand and produced immediate results, reducing field time, personnel skill requirements, and human processing time while increasing the accuracy and confidence of data captured. My IT background allowed me to quickly address and resolve issues with the company's computer network, including improving email and phone systems and moving email to the cloud. I also conducted benchmarking of the various software tools used in point cloud processing and color data post-processing, and worked with software authors to optimize data processing methods for greater efficiency. In addition, I designed an archiving solution that enabled us to store over 50TB of data on the cloud with easy search and access capabilities, while also providing security and redundancy. These improvements led to fewer data loss incidents and better data management in the field, resulting in more efficient workflows and utilization of personnel and equipment.

As the founder of PennyBurners, a social media platform for the penny auction industry, I have demonstrated strong leadership and problem-solving skills. In my role as sole estimator, I also took on the purchasing function and was able to source high-quality items at significantly lower prices than local vendors, even during a time of skyrocketing steel prices. I utilized these cost savings to negotiate favorable contracts with subcontractors on competitive bids and provided higher-quality materials in exchange for reduced prices, leading to additional profits and fewer issues in the field. In addition to these responsibilities, I developed a company website with a portal for project managers to track and document their work, which proved invaluable in resolving a dispute with a customer. I also implemented a system for project managers to have access to laptops and internet connectivity on the job in 2005, improving communication and efficiency. As an Estimator at Dick Travis Construction, I have demonstrated strong capabilities in improving efficiency and profitability. I developed a system for producing accurate material takeoffs within an hour, including critical structural engineering details, which helped identify and resolve issues before the plans were released to the field. This system also saved time by reducing the need for critical thinking at the beginning of each job. In addition, I tracked and reported on material usage per crew and model of home, which enabled us to optimize waste percentages and avoid downtime due to lack of material. I also visited job sites to identify and correct variations in waste differences and collect unused material for credit with vendors. These initiatives almost eliminated costly rush material orders and allowed me to focus on eliminating further inefficiencies. The material tracking also provided valuable data for negotiating with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors on pricing. Overall, my contributions as Estimator at Dick Travis Construction have helped the company discover invisible profits and improve the quality of our in-house and subcontractor work.
