I am presently acting as a Special Advisor to The Crown Estate in the Office of the Chief Executive, having been its Interim Head of Legal and Company Secretary for nine months from June 2021. I am also an Independent Member of the Council of the University of Exeter and Chair of its Audit and Risk Committee. I was Global Chair of the international law firm Hogan Lovells from May 2012 to April 2018, a Partner from January 1999 to April 2019 and a Senior Counsel consultant for the firm from May 2019 to December 2022, the latter as as part of my broader focus on, and advocacy for, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, equity and equality in business and society.My DE&I work includes having been a Trustee and non-Executive Chair) of the social mobility charity, Making the Leap, and past Executive Chair of PRIME Commitment Limited, past Chair and member of the British Paralympic Association's Parallel Club and a former Trustee of The CareTech Charitable Foundation. I was a member of the Advisory Board for the Government commissioned taskforce to boost the socio-economic diversity at senior levels in UK financial and professional services; am a member of the leadership group of Race Equality Matters; and co-Chaired a panel on Working Life for the Employers Social Mobility Alliance.
