Represented the legislative and regulatory interests of the 4,500+ members of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, successfully defeating all legislation opposed by the Chamber.Worked directly with State House and Senate leadership, committee chairmen, the Governor's office, and individual legislators to ensure that state laws protected and encouraged the pro-business climate of the state of Georgia.Served as primary contact between the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia congressional delegation, lobbying successfully in opposition of the Employee Free Choice Act and expressing clients interest in the ongoing discussions of energy reform, immigration andhealthcare transformation.Successfully lobbied for HB 272, a bill that caps sales and use taxes on energy used in the manufacturing process, potentially saving Georgia businesses over $20 million in 2009.Delivered HB 186, a five-year exemption on sales tax for the construction and expansion of alternative fuel facilities, providing greater incentives for businesses to invest in biofuels research.Oversaw the passage of the Jobs, Opportunity and Business Success Act of 2009 (JOBS), legislation providing tax incentives to companies for the hiring of unemployed workers, elimination of the state corporate net worth tax, and reduction of the capital gains tax. This bill provided over $1 billion of incentives for Georgia businesses.Represented business interests as a steering committee member for the Georgia Environmental Conference and board member of the Department of Natural Resources Statewide Advisory Council on Water Management.
