The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH). Nicholas provides governance, financial, and strategy support to TUFH.Universal Access and Equitable Health Delivery can only be achieved when there is coordination and “sharing” between Academic Institutions, Health Systems, and Communities. By serving as the global connector between these 3 sectors (the network of networks) The Network: TUFH is fostering the creation of new knowledge, collective solutions (helping subsystems become more than their individual parts), and informing global policy. The Network: TUFH convenes the world’s leading Academic Institutions, Health Systems, Community Health Associations and Industry Field Builders to collectively tackle the world’s global health challenges by collectively sharing (abstracts and research) and designing (live challenges, expert panels, position papers) innovative approaches, and developing policy recommendations toward universal access and equitable health delivery.

Founded in Greater Philadelphia, Social Innovations Partners (SIP) publishes the Social Innovations Journal with 45,000+ global subscribers and millions of readers. SIP also supports its own Institute and Lab helping participants to develop, test, refine, and launch their social innovation products and services into the social sector marketplace. To help social innovation products and services into the social sector marketplace, SIP hosts pitch events that builds bridges between Regional Social Investors and Greater Philadelphia’s social entrepreneurs who are reshaping our neighborhoods and communities; and whose ideas are inspiring Greater Philadelphia’s social sector network to improve collaborations and design new or enhance existing service models held in the nonprofit, business, and government arenas.

Nicholas Torres teaches Leading Nonprofits and Social Enterprise, Impact Locally and Globally Courses and Social Enterprise at the Wharton School. Leading Nonprofits is designed for those who have a practitioner’s interest in the development, leadership, and management of nonprofit organizations and their intersection with the private sector and government to create social change. The course brings the student through the process of starting a nonprofit and then leading an organization through key decisions and stages of development. Leading Nonprofits provides students with essential strategies and tools to conduct in-depth analysis of a non-profit’s effectiveness, financial sustainability, and policy change. The class will also address contemporary challenges related to organizational ethics, accountability, emerging legal frameworks, public policy, and politics.Social Enterprise and Impact Locally and Globally Course is designed for those who have a practitioner’s interest in the development, leadership, and management of the evolving nonprofit sector and their intersection with the socially conscious private sector and government. The course takes the student through the process of developing a mock social enterprise including idea exploration, testing and plan execution and provides the student with essential strategies and tools to conduct in-depth analysis of a social enterprise leading to their application to a regional social enterprise.

Education Plus Academy is a charter cyber-school that provides accessible, high quality, evidence-based educational services for children aged 5–21 (grades K–12) and their families, and specializes in services for students who are academically behind and/or have learning disabilities/differences.The Education Plus Academy provides extraordinary educational opportunities, particularly to families who are schooling their children with language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia.

Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) is a privately-funded program whose mission is to provide children from low-income Philadelphia families with financial access to quality, safe, K-8th grade, tuition-based schools, thereby increasing their long-term economic and social success. CSFP grants need-based scholarships to children from low-income Philadelphia families, all of which are awarded by random lottery. CSFP currently serves 5,500 children enrolled at over 160 private and parochial schools.
