I have spent many years in healthcare caring for patients in emergency situations in EMS and continued care in the hospital from emergency room to ICU, NICU, and eventually to the general medical surgical care areas in respiratory therapy. My passion for leadership sprouted early and I assisted the non profit fire department in my area by helping to reorganize their bylaws and officer positions and providing direct leadership as a chief level officer for several years. I also spent several years as EMS director maintaining and keeping up with records for the EMS service as well as personnel. I helped to improve the retention and recruitment rates as a chief officer as well as EMS Director.Within Texas Health Stephenville, I have had the opportunity to provide education hospital wide on respiratory specialties such as EKGs and capnography. I also spent several years as a clinical liaison between the emergency department and the respiratory care department with important milestones reached such as the implementation of therapist driven protocols within the ED and more recently, the floor areas. During this time, I also shared time with Texas Health HEB where I was placed in the ICU or ED to provide direct patient care to critically ill patients.I have joined the team at Cook Children's Medical Center and have had the opportunity to become a lead therapist. This has afforded me the opportunity to work closer with physicians, nurses, and other therapists to provide expertise. I have worked in every department at Cook Children's including the Cardiac and Pediatric ICU as well as the Emergency Department. I was then selected to assume the Respiratory Manager role and provided oversight and direction for 30 direct reports. I was responsible for scheduling of approximately 40 full time FTEs. Project lead for several successful hospital initiatives. Helped streamline and optimize the respiratory role in the emergency department including stocking and staffing.During my time at Cook Children's Medical Center, I also picked up a role at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Hospital in the NICU. I provided direct patient care to adults as well as neonates. Within NICU I have used HFJV, HFOV, conventional ventilation, and bubble CPAP. Finally, I attended deliveries in sterile environments to stabilize and transport critically ill neonates to NICU. I was also trained to provide critical care to adults including ECMO and COVID patients. Finally, I have filled the role of Lead Therapist directing and managing the flow of the RTs on night shift.
