As CFO, Nick's work includes oversight of an endowment of over $130 million, over $140 million in assets under management. He also works with the Foundation's Impact Investment program. This program invests a portion of the endowment into the local Albuquerque economy through investments in local venture capital firms and loans to local nonprofits. The Foundation grants over $5 million into the local Albuquerque area. Since 2016 the Foundation's grant programs have had a focus on economic and workforce development. Nick joined the Albuquerque Community Foundation as Finance Director after work as an audit manager for KPMG for five years. His time at KPMG gave him a strong accounting and internal control background. While at KPMG he specialized in the higher education and state and local government industries. In 2020 Nick was elected to the Council on Foundations Community Foundations National Standards Board (“CFNSB”). The CFNSB is responsible for the quality, value and integrity of compliance with National Standards. Additionally, in 2020 Nick joined the Finance, Administration & Operations Group Board (“FAOG”) as the National Standards representative. FAOG is a national membership organization for community foundation staff who work in the areas of finance, administration and operations. Nick joined the Board of Directors of the NM Society of CPA’s in 2019 and was honored as the NM Society of CPA’s Outstanding Member in Corporate Practice in 2019. Nick served on the Board of Directors for Quality New Mexico from 2017 until 2021. In 2018 Nick served as a member of the Board of Examiners for the New Mexico Performance Excellence Awards Program. Nick grew up in Raton, NM and moved to Albuquerque in 2010 to begin his accounting career. Nick has two children, Maggie and Mac. Nick married Michelle Becker in 2020 after Michelle moved to New Mexico where she is a nurse practitioner and midwife.
