About Nick Geddes
I lead the Energy System Catapult's Whole Systems and Networks platform, one of our 5 business areas. We focus on the UK energy system transformation and take a whole systems approach, meaning we cover all facets of the system, consider Net Zero innovation from a range of perspectives (i.e., digital, policy, engineering, systems integration) and apply a range of analytical approaches (e.g., modelling, power systems analysis, systems thinking etc.). I've worked in the sector for over 15-years and led teams across a number of energy policy, regulatory, analytical and strategy areas, including wholesale markets, retail markets, and networks, with particular focus on energy market and system design. I'm an economist by training (BSc Economics and MSc Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development) and have added to this with a Global Energy MBA. As well as delivering policy, strategy and regulation in a range of contexts, I have in my spare time published academically and setup and raised finance for a start-up Energy Services Company in rural Kenya, focussing on asset financing solar for power and water pumping.Key strengths:- Strategic thinker, decision-maker and leader.- Strong analytical, policy and project management skills.- Extensive experience working for the UK Government, Ofgem and international regulators.- Track record of performing at a high-level in multi-disciplinary environments.- Breadth of experience and styles of thinking.- Motivated, diligent and I enjoy collaborating with others.**Views expressed are my own, not the Energy Systems Catapult's**
