Director Of Accessibility
CurrentAmericaneagle.com is an industry leading one-stop shop offering a full range of solutions from strategy planning to hosting. To add to these solutions, I built out and grew our proactive accessibility approach across the company. With this growth, I established Americaneagle.com's dedicated Accessibility department of specialists and its processes. I built up and transitioned leadership of the Front-End Development team, so I could fully dedicate attention to accessibility. Work in our department covers all types of projects from large Departments of Education and federal sites to e-commerce clients wanting to reach larger audiences. To meet the needs of clients, I facilitated extensive knowledge sharing/training in WCAG guidelines and requirements for compliance related to government regulations such as ADA, AODA, and Section 508. I am also a CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility) with the IAAP. The team and I provide training/consultation services, manual assessments using assistive technology, automation tool review/prioritization, document testing, and code remediation. The continued ties and history in front-end development allows for us to provide practical answers and solutions. I created our testing processes, documentation, knowledge libraries for different roles, and educational materials to meet the needs both internally and for clients. I am regularly keeping up to date with latest standards, browser limitations, and upcoming guidelines including WCAG 2.2. We actively do side projects including surveys and research into end user feedback to better determine pain points and approaches to make the web a more accessible place.Furthermore, I regularly speak about accessibility at events including those for WordPress communities, CSUN Accessibility Conference, Global Accessibility Awareness Days, as well as different association and local events. I aim to help educate clients and developers how to improve the web experience for all users.
