I have practiced elder law since graduating law school in 2006 and have been in private practice in Omaha since 2011. I provide general elder law services including, but not limited to, Medicaid, estate planning, probate, and Medicaid estate recovery. My book of business in Nebraska and Iowa includes representing individuals, families, and professional fiduciaries. I am currently a Senior Associate Attorney at Koukol Johnson Schmit & Milone. The most unique aspect of my practice is my work developing and implementing strategies for individuals with a loved one in long-term care. I leverage my knowledge of Medicaid rules and regulations to minimize the financial impact of long-term care for my clients, their spouses, and families.Before entering private practice I taught and practiced elder law for three years as the Clinical Law Fellow for the Elder Law Practice Group in the University of St. Thomas's clinical program where I represented low-income elderly individuals, supervised student attorneys, and taught a classroom component of the clinic. My career goal is to provide the best possible advocacy and planning for seniors and their families. I do this by focusing on the unique issues facing Nebraskans and Iowans as they age (estate planning, long term care planning, capacity, and Medicaid estate recovery) as well as providing services in closely related areas of law (estate and trust administration, guardianships, and conservatorships) so that families can rely on me to be their life long lawyer.
