I enjoy my work here because it gives me ample opportunity to represent the charity to many different people.My main duties are:Communicating with fundraisers, supporters and external companies over the telephone and email; proof-reading all mail, both electronic and paper, amending accordingly; training new members of staff and as a main focal point for the team; processing merchandise and charity orders; tracking missing parcels.There are two notable situations that I will take away from my time here. The first is a phone call I took within my first week in the job. Upon taking the call, I found myself conversing with a woman who was about to go into labour who wanted someone to keep her company for 45 minutes until her Ambulance arrived. Needless to say this situation wasn't covered in my training!The second situation happened shortly after one month of working at the charity. I was required to take on a senior role within the Customer Service team; quickly learning the computer system and operating structure, and training high numbers of temporary staff to deal with the huge workload created in the wake of the tragedy in Woolwich in May 2013 It was an extremely tough few months which required dealing with high levels of stress; ever increasing workloads; and difficult customers due to logistical challenges arising from the overwhelming increase in public support. I really enjoyed my work here as it was the first time I was given sole responsibility of a project.
