I am a clinical neurosurgeon subspecializing in neurosurgical oncology, a data scientist with expertise in predictive analytics and high-performance computing, and healthcare data analytics. I am also an expert biodefense, including biological and chemical weapons and health security policy, and in transnational crime and illicit trade analysis, including issues of illicit trade, money laundering, and human trafficking.I am currently the Director of Neurosurgery at LewisGale Regional Health System in Salem, VA. Previously I served as Associate Professor and Director of the University of Cincinnati Brain Tumor Center. I was also the first Chief Data Officer at Geisinger Health System, where I founded and led the Department of Data Science, supervised the effort to develop and manage a comprehensive enterprise data strategy, directed the design and implementation of the organization's first enterprise big data platform, and built a comprehensive strategy for modern data governance.
