Leading testbed design for new Hurricane Hunter dropsondes. Responsibilities include ordering new equipment, rewiring and reconfiguring pressurized air cannon, and creating a Standard of Procedure for testing of new dropsondes on Hurricane Hunter materials in mid-2023.

National Science Foundation (NSF) Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) National Full-Scale Testing Infrastructure for Community Hardening in Extreme Wind, Surge, and Wave Events (NICHE) ProposalLed landscape assessment of wind and wave facilities across North America in partnership with the University of Florida and Oregon State University. Tasks included:- Compiling specifications on over 50 wind and wave facilities- Interviewing managers and visiting facilities in Texas and California- Drafted official progress reports to NSF- Composed final report to multi-university and multi-industry NICHE team detailing our findings and recommendations

Investigated wave-structure interaction using Real-Time Hybrid Simulation modeling at the Oregon State University O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory. I used Python to analyze pressure sensor, force, and displacement data taken from tests run in the Large Wave Flume on a test cylinder. Results published in a research paper and presented as part of the 2022 NHERI DesignSafe REU program.

Deployed with multi-university team to intercept landfall of Hurricane Ian in September 2022. Deployment consisted of traveling to Tampa and Southwest Florida in an attempt to set up wind and storm surge data collection equipment.

Operated Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel, repaired Flow Field Modulator fans, led testing with High Airflow Pressure Loading Actuator, and served as hands-on help for experiments in Powell Lab.

Presented weekly weather forecasts on UF Journalism and NPR Gainesville Facebook Live.

Developed Python code to compile observational datasets that span spatial and temporal scales. These included MiRS microwave soundings, Tail-Doppler Radar scans, dropsonde profiles, IBTrACS data, and Statistical Hurricane Intensity Prediction Scheme (SHIPS) shear values. Code was then developed to pair near-coincident observations to provide a comprehensive evolution of thermodynamic and kinematic processes in tropical cyclones.In its inaugural application, I applied this Python code to Hurricane Edouard (2014), a heavily-observed and moderately sheared tropical cyclone that intensified into a major hurricane. Using the program, we were able to comprehensively verify previous work on Edouard regarding the moistening of the drier upshear quadrants during the storm's intensification.Future work with this code hopes to provide additional high-resolution context to the evolution of tropical cyclones, with a specific focus in gaining a better understanding of intensity changes in moderately sheared storms.
