Agriculture and Ecosystems);Achievements;Compiled and collated existing national enviro-agricultural baseline data, defined ecosystem functions and services in the target region and analysed the data for disaster risk reduction interventions;Identified critical ecosystems and their functions which need to be reinforced for improved climate risk;Identified land use and watershed management policies and the gaps and deficiencies that needed to be addressed to maintain the critical ecosystem functions for sustained rain-fed agriculture production and achieving greater resilience of the population and settlements, including addressing rural water infrastructure improvement;Developed a complete policy and legislation guide appropriate to national environmental regulations, international agreements and ratified treaties and bi-lateral and organisational donor requirements. Developed the Proof of concept paper identifying the links between environmental health and ecosystem services with climate resilience and disaster risks management to communities and infrastructure;

Timor-Leste

Assess and evaluate the potential for agro-forestry, NTFPs, coconut oil production, harvesting andprocessing in under assisted rural communities with a view to promoting livelihood diversification, reducing energy poverty and increasing income generation potential through utilizing available agro-forestry resources, capitalising on existing traditional skills and knowledge, and through providing improved technical apparatus and training.The work involved extensive fieldwork and stakeholder consultation with remote communities throughout the southern coastal wetland zone. My responsibilities were to lead the team, design the questionnaires and facilitate constructive dialogue and information gathering in order to gain valuable incite into the opportunities and barriers influencing the potential to increase and improve (in terms of both quantity and quality of) artisanal coconut oil production.My major deliverable was a report defining the overall feasibility of improving remote communities potential to produce, utilise and sell coconut oil in a beneficial and cost effective way in terms of beneficiaries' needs and demands and market potential.

Identify, research and analyse background climate and environment status and materials (legislation and policy), important to AusAID's intended market development activities throughout Timor Leste - prepare and present analysis.Develop MDF Timor Leste's Environmental Policy and National Environmental Checklist - the key tool to assess an intervention's potential threat to ecosystem services, agricultural livelihoods and environmental health.
