STAR (Summer Teacher and Researcher) Participant- Designed a quick release apparatus for ice auger, saving 2 minutes per test execution.- Utilized SOLIWORKS FEA simulation tools and applied stress fatigue and power screw mathematics to prove design feasibility.- Applied the results of my design process to develop a lesson plan for implementation in STEM classroom. - Attended weekly workshops with the nine other STAR participants in the Boulder-Golden-Denver area to collaborate on building skills as teachers.- Presented internship summary and project results at poster session hosted at NASA Ames Research Center.

I was the one engineering major out of 4 student assistants in a classroom of rising 6th graders. Focus of the Summer school was to teach the engineering design process in a project based learning atmosphere, with the students' final project being a design-build miniature golf course. I personally prepped and taught the lessons/activities regarding engineering drawings, as well as the main resource for engineering concepts and best practice for fabrication.

Aside from in-office organization, I also used the on-screen takeoff software "MaxView" for job site material analysis. I would determine how much of each material was going to be needed for each step of the construction process (as drawn on the detail plans) and give those numbers to the lead estimator. I also gained valuable experience in reading and writing SWPPP forms and how they are implemented on the job site.
