Plaza Towers

After working for the Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Grand Rapids for three years, I became familiar with the downtown area as well as the building. A position opened up to work first shift security for the building that demanded a high level of customer service in addition to the standard security duties. I quickly started to recognize the residents of the building. Not nearly everyone, but the ones that I would see on a regular basis. The building stands 33 floors high and I patrol every floor including parking and the exterior.

Grand Rapids, Michigan

I spent the majority of my time at the Amway Hotel Collection working for The Courtyard by Marriott in Downtown Grand Rapids. I was awarded associate of the month just after my first six months working there. I spent a brief three months working for the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids as a night auditor in May 2012. It was a completely different system and atmosphere that was great experience all around. I returned to the Courtyard by Marriott to take the Lead Night Audit Position in July 2012. For the month long period that the hotel was shut down due to the building flooding in April 2013, I worked as the third shift telephone operator for the hotel.

I was hired on as a part time employee that worked in the general merchandise sections of the store while I went through school. In my time there I was quickly recognized as a leader and given responsibilities to lead the rest of my team in the absence of my team leaders. I interacted with customers on a daily basis and assisted them with locating items within the store, loading up their vehicles, mixing paint, filling balloons, and selling permits from Department of National Resources. In my time there I worked three years stocking various departments of the store mostly on the general merchandise side and was HiLo certified.

Oversee night operations of the hotel. Prepare cash receipt journal entries for the day for five hotel properties. Get the hotel ready for the next day's business by making sure that all the cash drawers were counted down to a certain amount in lower denominational bills.
