Spartan Medical has been awarded more than 700 federal government contracts with the VA and the Department of Defense. Spartan Medical’s vast network and expertise have made it an industry leader for any organization seeking to buy or sell innovative medical technologies and solutions to the federal government. As Director of Public Relations and Government Affairs, I led strategic communications, media relations and government affairs for Spartan Medical and its ecosystem of synergistic companies. I was responsible for building and maintaining effective working relationships with Spartan Medical’s stakeholders by driving the company brand, monitoring and managing its corporate image and reputation, publicizing the company’s expertise and successes, and creating and conducting marketing communications campaigns. I also served as the Executive Director of the Proffitt Brothers Foundation®, Spartan Medical’s charitable arm, where I oversaw the daily operations of the nonprofit, managed its staff, acted as its chief spokesperson, and advised and implemented the long-term strategic plans of the Board of Directors.

The Proffitt Brothers Foundation is the charitable arm of Spartan Medical Inc. The foundation’s mission is to supercharge the efforts of nonprofits that are on the front lines making a positive impact on the communities they serve while devoting at least ninety-five percent of their funding to their causes. Using business efficiency, PBF provides nonprofits a wide range of services, including funding, matching campaigns, marketing campaigns, and event production. The Proffitt Brothers Foundation primarily supports veteran causes in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) region, but it has supported a wide variety of causes across the country. As Executive Director, I oversaw the daily operations of the nonprofit, managed its staff, acted as its chief spokesperson, and advised and implemented the long-term strategic plans of the Board of Directors. This is in addition to my position as the Director of Public Relations and Government Affairs for Spartan Medical.

Led all strategic communications and government affairs efforts to monitor and manage the corporate reputation and political environment for a highly-regulated alcohol wholesaler that had 8 facilities, 200 trucks, and 1,100 employees.

Strategized, conceptualized and composed campaign prospectuses, fundraising letters, direct mail pieces and other key communications for campaigns for Virginia Lt. Governor, Virginia Attorney General, Virginia General Assembly, New Jersey House of Representatives and county-wide offices in Pennsylvania.

Conceived and wrote franked mail, fundraising letters, direct mail pieces, digital ads, walk cards, GOTV letters, and numerous other products for dozens of advocacy groups and campaigns for president, U.S. House and Senate, governorships and state legislatures.

Built a thought leadership practice that analyzed, articulated, amplified and advocated a different political perspective, the pragmatic perspective. We conducted original research, wrote daily columns, organized a large online community, interviewed politicians and reported from political events to promote our perspective on the political news and issues.

Produced communications materials and digital content for small businesses, advocacy groups and political campaigns.
