Nicholas Steffens is a native New Yorker and south Florida transplant. He grew up in Syosset, New York where he attended one of the best public high schools in the country. During his time there he was general manager of the school’s public radio station, WKWZ.He pursued higher education at Syracuse University, earning a BS in Public Relations and a BA in Political Science. Furthering his academic pursuits, he attended Seton Hall University’s School of Law, obtaining a juris doctorate.Relocating to south Florida, Nicholas successfully passed the bar exam and gained experience in workers’ compensation and family law at various small firms in Broward County. Eventually, he established his own practice, specializing in family, real estate and election litigation. His commitment extended beyond the law, actively participating in the Broward Democratic Party and various chambers of commerce. This culminated in an unsuccessful campaign for the Broward County School Board in 2012.His life took a dramatic turn in 2015 when he faced legal troubles related to the misappropriation of client funds, leading to an arrest. In 2016, Nicholas began serving a 10-year prison sentence. Throughout his incarceration, he held various roles such as law clerk, medical orderly, canteen operator and food service worker. He completed over 25 programs during this time as well in topics such as personal finance, anger management and yoga. This period taught him valuable lessons in humility and patience.
