Nicholas van den Doel (Mons, 1978) is a Dutch entrepreneur, music rights specialist, studio owner, and former vocalist renowned for his enigmatic performances with the Dutch DC-hardcore-meets-classic-rock band Oil.Oil gained critical acclaim and modest fame in the late 90s through various electrifying performances at international venues, ranging from underground squats to renowned music festivals like CMJ, Lowlands, and Noorderslag. Together, they released the "Definition Delta" album and two singles, leaving a lasting impact on the music scene before disbanding in 2004.After his time with Oil, Nicholas became the driving operational force for companies like The Dutch Skateboarding Federation, Time Out Magazine, and Independent Outlet. During this period, he also founded Jet Black Records, a record label, and ARC (Amsterdam Recording Company), a recording studio, showcasing his passion for music and business acumen.In 2013 , Nicholas embarked on a new chapter by joining the music-for-advertising agency Sizzer Amsterdam, where he reunited with long-time collaborator and Oil drummer Marcel A. Wiebenga. Starting as a Publishing & Copyright Manager, Nicholas swiftly became the company's Managing Director, revolutionizing internal and external processes while expanding the company to Berlin.In 2021, Nicholas further embraced his entrepreneurial spirit, co-founding two innovative companies at the intersection of music, technology, and advertising again with Marcel. Howl, their brainchild, stands as a next-generation music agency that expertly executes music strategies by blending cultural relevance with musical meaning. Additionally, the duo introduced Ringo, a B2B music-for-media procurement platform that aims to create a simple, safe, and stress-free sync music licensing ecosystem by utilizing AI and Web3 technologies. In August 2023, Ringo achieved a significant milestone by securing a 350K euro pre-seed funding round, validating the platform's potential in the industry.Nicholas currently operates between Amsterdam and Frankfurt. In between venturing into new entrepreneurial endeavors, he indulges in his love for art and architecture and devours approximately 150 books a year, primarily American fiction.
