The group obtained a full listing on the London Stock Exchange and in 1996 was bought out by Whitbread PLC, the brewing and leisure corporation for GBP 133M.As the company grew my responsibilities changed considerably as Group Financial Controller. I was responsible for the internal reporting, budgeting and forecasting. I developed a team of 35 staff, ran training courses for restaurant managers and chefs, acted as IT manager for the first 18 months. I was responsible for the implementation of and upgrade of a group wide reporting system, Sun Accounts on a SQL platform, and it's integration with the POS systems in use across the business.
