I am a Commissioner at the Fair Work Commission, Australia’s national workplace relations tribunal, having been appointed by the Governor-General to the position in 2013.I am based in Melbourne and work across all industry sectors dealing with matters in all of the Commission’s jurisdictions; disputes under enterprise agreements; bargaining for and approval of enterprise agreements, unfair dismissal, general protections and anti-bullying and harassment applications. I am a nationally accredited mediator. I emphasise in all my practice the achievement of results in which all parties can have confidence.Working across all facets of workplace relations, my expertise is in workplace dispute resolution and workplace integrity as well as establishing and leading public sector agencies as a Commonwealth Agency Head and CEO.Immediately before appointment to the Fair Work Commission I was Australia’s first Fair Work Ombudsman, leading the formation of that agency and positioning it as a highly respected champion of workplace rights. I have held a succession of Australian Government statutory appointments from the Governor – General since 2002. I have unique high-level expertise at the apex of workplace relations policy, regulation, service delivery and executive leadership as well as having Chief Executive Officer accountability for large, complex public sector organisations subject to frequent and intense external scrutiny.
