Profile bio

About Nichole Oster

My name is Nichole Oster. Since 2008, I have been sharpening my ability to create positive work cultures. Work culture is a shared set of values, beliefs and attitudes that guide your organization. You reflect the culture in the way you treat your customers and employees and it impacts the types of candidates you are able to attract. A culture will emerge in your organization; however, you must be intentional if you want to create a positive culture that will inspire your team and your organization. Every team should have established goals which guide individual performance and encourage collaboration. Use feedback to make needed adjustments. Promote your organization’s goals and provide employees with a sense of professional purpose. It’s essential to create a positive and inclusive workplace and to make diversity a part of your recruitment strategy.Work is stressful but make difficult situations more tolerable. Ultimately you must solve the problem, but you must have a fresh perspective and a positive outlook. Make sure you value and hear every person regardless of their particular job. New people have a fresh perspective. Even interns are capable of much more than busy work. Remember to let employees speak openly about the problems they face at work and outside. Help them understand their rights are protected in the workplace. Make sure they have access to company support and resources and of course HR representatives. Recognize employees for outstanding results. This will motivate their peers to try harder creating some friendly competition that leads to high performance. Here are some important “Don’ts”: Don’t let disengaged employees hang around. They are a source of pervasive toxicity. Talk to those who are not productive about their behavior. If there is no improvement, it may be time to part ways. Don’t tolerate poor managers. People with bad managers are looking for another job. Creating a good work culture results in increased production and reduced employee turnover so stick with it!

Listed skills include Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Manufacturing, and 26 others.

General Manager, Production & Quality

Morinaga America Foods

Morinaga America Foods, Inc., opened a candy making facility in Orange County, North Carolina, in July of 2015. Morinaga is known for its brand known as HI-CHEW officially approved as food for astronauts by JAXA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. The parent company was established in Tokyo, Japan in 1899. I went to work for Morinaga in 2014 as Quality Assurance Manager and was promoted to General Manager of Production and Quality in 2017. Initially I developed a quality plan and successfully passed SQF food safety audits for COSTCO and Wal-Mart. In 2017, I began to build a firm foundation for the production and quality aspects of the facility which was very exciting. Since 2017 we have made great strides in meeting demand and establishing firm goals for training and human resources policies.

Mom Brands

MOM Brands Company (formerly Malt-O-Meal Company and Campbell Cereal Company) was an American producer of breakfast cereals in Northfield, Minnesota. Products were sold in at least 70 percent of this country’s grocery stores. The company had four manufacturing plants. The company was originally founded in 1919. MOM Brands began manufacturing in Asheboro, NC, in 2007. In 2012 MOM Brands surpassed Post to become the third largest producer of cereals in the US. In January 2015, Post Holdings purchased MOM Brands.I began with MOM Brands in 2006 as Black Belt Project Leader and then Line Manager in 2008. As Black Belt Project Leader I was able to utilize lean tools and Six Sigma to make major cost savings. As Line Manager I helped with the start-up of two production lines. I spent time building capable teams that understood food safety and quality issues. I was promoted to Quality Assurance Manager in 2012 and managed food safety and quality for 68 million pounds of cereal products annually.
