Acciona awarded Melchor the Civil Package 02 (detailed earthworks, construction of major concrete structures including formwork, reinforcement, and concrete pours, and installation of underground services), and on completion of the contract they stayed on-site in a minor works and maintenance capacity. Sydney Metro City and Southwest is Australia's biggest rail projects, consisting of 13 rail stations along the Metro NW Line, including 8 new Metro Stations and 5 upgraded rail stations. Martin Place is one of the stations undergoing an upgrade as part of the project, and Kenny Constructions were contracted to construct the permanent lining. Employed as a Leading Hand Carpenter, core role duties included:► Coordinating and leading a site-based team of 8 carpenters and 4 labourers to ensure the safe and efficient construction of the permanent lining, including invert bases and concrete to the arch lining caverns (and as each cavern was 15-meters x 9 meters wide, this made for a technically complex and high-risk work environment)► Extensive use of Doka frames for construction of the adits and cross passages► NB: I was also Acting Night Shift Supervisor for leave coverage. -
