As Head of the Property team I am responsible for the management of a varied and often complex property portfolio for the Biffa Group covering over 250 individual locations. I provide property advice at Corporate and Divisional levels to ensure alignment of our property interests to the Company's evolving strategic goals. Key achievements in my time at Biffa include;- undertaking detailed due diligence on a significant number of merger and acquisitions- delivery of property interests to support the company's EFW proposals- management of a complex property transaction to underpin a £1bn waste management contract- delivery of a significant number of diverse property transactions for Energy from Waste facilities, Anaerobic Digestion operations, Invessel Composting activities, landfill and landfill gas utilisation schemes, small to large scale material recycling facilities, office buildings, depots and workshops.- The management of lettings including landfill and landfill gas utilisation activities, industrial buildings, offices, agricultural tenancies, telecoms and solar schemes.- design, population and implementation of a bespoke on line property database to allow improved interrogation of key management information.- the successful management of the property portfolio under Landlord and Tenant Act legislation including renewals, breaks and expiries, rent reviews, maintenance and dilapidations negotiations.- Disposal of surplus properties- Resolution of a number of disputes through effective negotiation, mediation and Court Action as appropriate, successfully protecting the company against claims totalling in excess of £25m.- Effective management to ensure the Company's national non domestic rating liabilities are minimised and cash flows are protected.
