Given the dynamic nature of a classroom, teachers must have the ability to think on their feet and adapt to unexpected circumstances.Teachers have to effectively sell themselves before they can deliver the content, therefore, self-confidence is essential. Also, teachers need an honest and profound cultural awareness to effectively communicate and teach children of varying ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds.Research is a critical aspect of teaching. I teach Advanced Placement US History which offers college credit if the associated exam is passed. I continue to do research year after year to ensure I have the most complete historical information. I also continue to research the most effective teaching methods to assure the the highest level of learning for the greatest number of students.Classroom management, time management and community management are vital. Teachers interact with hundreds of kids each day and must structure class periods to make effective use of time while effectively teaching skills and knowledge in a constructive and comprehensible manner. Additionally, teachers are linked to the community through regular meetings with parents and other members of the community. Therefore, we are public figures in ways other professionals are not.
