About Nick Borchers

I am a research scientist focused on software engineering, particularly in the context of signal and data processing applied to sensor output. While I currently apply my skills to radar systems used for missile defense, I cut my teeth in the world of ultrasonic phased arrays. Both experiences have imbued me with a profound appreciation for the power of sensors to extend our view of the world around us.Recently, I have become increasingly fascinated by the emerging technology of Augmented Reality (AR). I have parlayed this interest into a research program which looks to merge my sensor expertise with nascent commercial AR devices. Titled 'Sensor Augmented Vision', this project looks to extend a user's visual perception of the world beyond the visible spectrum. More details can be found below attached to my experience at GTRI.
