DSL.net was purchased by Megapath Networks. My duties have continued to evolve as we continue to purchase and integrate smaller companies. I have been involved in Linux, Solaris, and Windows administration and ESXi virtual environments. Implementation of a puppet, cobbler and kickstart environment for spinning up Linux VMs. I became certified RHCE in February of 2012.

Assisted with the Linux advocacy group Tux.org. Tux.org is a 501c3 based in Washington DC. I have managed the OpenSource table at the FOSE convention in DC for several years.

Founded and helped to run the operations of SCOSUG, The Southern CT Open Source User Group. SCOSUG is a source of information on open source technologies for both the end user and the corporation. We try to bring resources together, hold training sessions and help open source advocates network with each other. Our primary geographic area of interest is Southern CT but includes all areas of Connecticut and has drawn attendance from NYC to Boston.

I started at DSL.net in May of 2000, just after the "Year 2000" adventure. I had finished my masters degree and wanted something a little more challenging in the business/computing world instead of just the computing world. During my time here I have been:Unix Administrator, Sr Unix Administrator, Facilities Manager, Manager IT Services, Mover, Electrician, Cleanup Crew, Warehouse, Customer Support for internal and external customers and all other duties as assigned.I have moved a server room with well over 100 servers and even more networking equipment over 300 miles twice (from CT to VA, and back) and a few other smaller scale moves as we consolidated companies from California to New Jersey.I have experience with integration of services both Windows and Unix as companies as merged, combined or the assets were purchased outright. I have experience building and maintaining customer facing services such as email (SMTP / Pop3 / IMAP), DNS, and web services. Administration of databases from MySQL to Oracle, monitoring from Nagios and BigBrother including custom plug ins with SNMP. SIP and VoIP services including Asterisk.Programming experience consists of shell (bash), Perl, Python and PHP.

MDA (UWash) to MUA (on multiple platforms. from Mac to Windows; mostly Eudora and Netscape. Network support and backup assistance for desktop support. Configuration and management of email listserv (MailMan) including custom perl and python scripts for subscriber management.
