I specialize in the hands-on management of in-house creative teams, projects, budgets, and client relationships. Over the course of my career, I have led both small and large teams across web design and user experience, print production, brand, creative operations, project management, and consumer product development functions.While I have worn many creative hats, what I am most passionate about is the “business of creative”. That is, the operational aspects of a creative team: budget planning, resource/project management, process development, and relationship management. I believe that a solid operations discipline is core to any great creative organization; even the most visionary work can fall short if it isn't on time, on scope, and on budget. I led the creative organization for GameStop’s US business, as well as the creative and product development organizations at ThinkGeek, a GameStop subsidiary. During my tenure at GameStop, I oversaw design and user experience for GameStop.com and its related omnichannel initiatives, and was accountable for the design, production, and delivery of all in-store PoP and marketing signage to the 4,000-store US chain.I also built GameStop’s creative operations discipline from the ground-up, established an in-department operations team, implemented and oversaw Workfront and digital asset management (NetX), and expanded the scope and ease of use of our in-house client interface points. As the size and scope of the department grew, I continually evaluated organization, team talent, and growth opportunities to refine workflow and develop team members.I strongly believe in an inclusive culture of collaboration and communication within my teams and with peers and partners. Senior Director, Creative ServicesGamestop 2017 - 2019Fairfax, VaIn 2015, GameStop acquired ThinkGeek, an online retailer and producer of consumer products. After leading the Creative effort to expand the previously online-only brand into physical stores, in 2016 I relocated to ThinkGeek's headquarters in the Washington D.C. area to support its continued integration. Shortly thereafter, I was asked to run ThinkGeek's in-house consumer product design and development department, where I oversaw the design, development, and production of product lines for licensed brands such as Nintendo, Star Wars, Minecraft, and Pokémon.Directing 50+ associates across multiple locations, I restructured teams and developed systems and processes to organize workflow, establish meaningful quality and accountability standards, and identify and target business-relevant success metrics. In this role, I focused on department operations and relationship management, establishing a dedicated Creative Operations team responsible for project management, client services, and print procurement. Through continuous improvement, I enabled a "work from anywhere" team capability, moved the organization from paper proofs to digital, and integrated key partners into project management, enabling greatly enhanced cross-departmental collaboration and communication.I also oversaw the design, production, and fulfillment of in-store marketing signage and other print materials for all US stores.
