Determine system circuiting requirements for Customer Operation projects. Develops and prepares engineering design plans, cost estimates, analytical computations, material requirements, CSA requirements, customer requirements, and construction work packages for large distribution and sub-transmission system addition and improvement projects such as line extensions and conversions, and for service connections for large residential, commercial and industrial customers. Coordinates these efforts with other Energy Solution options. Initiates and obtains all necessary governmental approvals, easements acquisitions, joint pole approvals, utility agreements, service fee contracts, license agreements, consultant contracts, and special billings required of the projects. Conducts field inspections to verify field conditions and resolve design related problems. Meets and discusses with customers and/or their consultants various service requirement matters, including vault/pad and ductline layouts, meter layouts, combining meters, rate schedules, circuiting, coordination (fuse/breaker), master planning, etc. Reviews and approves customer's electrical plans, such as metering or switchgear equipment and associated one-line diagrams, for conformance with all service requirements and established Hawaiian Electric Company standards such as the Electric Service Installation Manual, EUSERC, and the NEC.Serves as Project Manager/Project Engineer for large customer operations projects.Serves as technical consultant to planners/designers. Performs analytical computations, such as short circuit current, overcurrent relay, fuse coordination, motor starting, voltage drop, and customer demand load. Assist with the application of Hawaiian Electric Company's tariff, ESPM, engineering standards, EUSERC, and the NEC.Audits the recorded costs reports for job initiated within the division to determine accuracy of the estimates prepared.

Responsible for designing service installation of overhead or underground to residential, commercial, and industrial customers whose demands are 10KVA and below. Prepare and issue work orders, sketches, and material lists to submit to Construction & Maintenance Department for installation. Coordinate with contractors, developers, consultants, customers, and joint pole members with removals and installations. Analyze current and future customer loads and how it will impact existing transformers. Design new installations/replacements of transformers (pole mount and pad mount) when necessary. Works with survey, and lands & right of way departments when easements are involved. Serves as Project Manager/Project Engineer for small customer operations projects.

Assisted project manager in bidding and managing over $63 million and bid $14.3 million of roadway construction and asphalt infrastructure projects for LaDOTD, local municipalities, and private customers. Responsible for finalizing all quantities for all estimates prior to project manager submitting estimate. After successful bid, assume all field engineer duties through the completion of the project which include create and manage costs, quantities, audit timesheets, and manage all sub-contractors. Coordinate and schedule six crews. Implement a project safety execution plan, maintain project schedules that reflect personnel, equipment, and material needs, and coordinate all subcontractors. Conduct field observations, supervise crews, and maintain RFI’s. Maintain plan drawings and update plan as builts. Ensure all work completed complies with state and/or federal specifications. Keep project schedule up-to-date throughout the project via P3, P6, and Microsoft Project. Submit schedules to state Engineer on major state projects. Serve as lead TCS. Comply with and implement company policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
