Nick is an English barrister and an American trial lawyer, He is one of four practicing American lawyers (which includes his son Tre) who are dually qualified as barristers at the bar of England and Wales. He is also a member of the New York, Iowa and U.S. Supreme Court bars.In June 2012 he was called to the Bench of the Middle Temple Inn of Court and became the first American since 1810 to be called as an ordinary Bencher. Master Critelli (as he is called there) is actively engaged in the training of newly called barristers and has, for the past twenty-five years, facilitated the American side of the Middle Temple's Anglo-American Exchange. Each year the Inn sends a newly called barrister to Iowa to work with and be trained by Master Critelli during the summer. Nick is a past president of the American Academy of ADR Attorneys, Iowa State Bar Association and the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers. Currenty he serves as Chair of the Ethics Committee of the Iowa State Bar Association. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Society of Barristers and the American Board of Trial Advocates.
