VHP was born (incorporated as a non-profit) in July 2015, out of Nick Dechev's research laboratory at the University of Victoria. The original research started with TBM hand prosthesis in 1999, and around 2012 for the current Victoria hand. Nick has traveled extensively to establish this project in Cambodia, Egypt, Guatemala, and Nepal. This very active non-profit company has provided working prosthesis to over 110 amputees in 8 countries in the past 3 years and is rapidly growing!
