Human Machine Interaction (HMI)My first role on the project was to document all the existing HMI on the MOD300 system and aide Honeywells project team in converting them or, where necessary, designing new HMI inline with a more ASM compliant standard the business wanted to implement using Honeywells HMIWeb technologies.Control SoftwareHoneywell translated our existing control software (a mix of CCF, TLL, and TCL) from ABB to their control module and sequential control module formats in control builder. We undertook the testing of this in a simulated environment to ensure its was acceptable. This required a very good understanding of both systems as well as the physical processes, and where differences were unavoidable; whether they were significant enough to demand a re-design.Once the first phase of the project was commissioned I also began designing and implementing changes to the existing control to support the sites continuous improvement.Enterprise SystemThe system was supplied with a range of enterprise software - Uniformance PHD, Doc4000, eServer, and Dynamo alarm management. The software was supplied with just a basic install and I was tasked with completing the configuration to integrate it.General System AdministrationDuring the project I also took on the responsibility of managing the domain controller, monitoring the health of the physical hosts and virtual machines, managing data archiving/backups, network troubleshooting, thin client configuration etc. Show less

The role developed over the years from an entry position not unlike an apprenticeship to a management position looking after the day to day running of the laboratory.

Started out as a part time shop assistant focussing on computers, printers, office furniture etc. to earn some spending money whilst at university.After graduating I worked full time until I secured a job better suited to my chosen career path. Whilst working full time I took on extra responsibilities managing the 'business machines' side of the store, opening/closing the store and cashing up at the end of the day.
