Combined Data Analyst/Developer/Consultant for the RapidView Team, providing TV Audience Measurement services to international clients.The team was involved turning raw TV set top box data into audience viewing data using Atria-Pro software for clients in Europe and Africa.My role was to provide additional development, analysis and consultancy skills to:-- Create client facing QC reports and data- Automate QC systems and the loading of data into client facing systems- Provide ETL and conversion tools to allow client generated meta data to be ingested by Atria and other systems- Developed tools to allow the analysis of large volumes of client data supplied in JSON and XML formats- Design and create Ad-hoc and proof of concept solutions for large projects including internet usage and IP TV (>100GB of Data). - Interface production systems to AZURE blob storage - Troubleshoot data and production issues and test new processing functionality, provide tools to fix data issues- Provide general and TV specific technical consultancy to the team- Supply line management and technical support to a member of the Screenwise Google project- Provide introductory courses on SQL/XML/Python/Excel for team members

My role was a business analyst/developer to the whole company, working to support the production of UK TV Audience data as part of the UK BARB TV measurement contract.- Created data stores and tools to analyze large volumes of UK TV data- Developed a early warning system to catch issues in data production early which increased BARB's confidence in our systems- Transformed AGB operations by creating a wide range of internal systems including stock control, technical operations, quality control and QC reporting- Developed the daily custom 'Overnights Reporting' system which was sold as a service to commercial clients- Produced a audience analysis system for E! Entertainment that allowed them to analyze and report using European TV Audience data. - Worked on many custom data and consultancy projects for clients, providing technical sales support and then going on to generate the required data resources (Virgin Media, Hallmark, OFCOM)- Supported new developments in TV measurement including the creation of proof of concept systems - Provide training and support to other staff members, increasing data analysis and technical skillsTowards the end of my time at AGB I was invited to Nielsen in Switzerland to brief their main IT team on the tools I had created to support the company's operations. From this much of the functionality I had developed was the incorporated into their World Wide software product.

Brought into the company to re-engineer the TV Data Management systems which were written in a non 2000 year compliant package. To do this I had to :-- gain in depth knowledge about the Industry- understand the existing systems - create the new system from scratch using Oracle This was a huge task with long hours and weekend working but I succeeded and all systems were ready to run Jan 1st 2000.When TV data changed again in 2002 (start of digital services measurement) I undertook a major re-development of the system to make it more efficient and handle the new data formats.The remainder of my time was spent creating data and tools to support the company's data and consultancy projects including.- A tool to a allow all the Government's "Future of TV" Green paper industry responses to be analysed against the relevant sections of the paper. (This was mentioned in Parliament as a outstanding piece of software)- A system to monitor the BBC television program production sources to ensure they abbided by the current regulationsAd-hoc analysis and data projects for the British FiIm Institute, Disney, Discovery, OFCOM and the Office of Fair Trading As the company expert on TV Measurement I provided the final briefings to the Japanese's TV Companies delegates yearly tours of Europe after they had visited the major broadcasters.

I joined Cartermill to take over the management of their VAX based electronic publishing systems. The previous operations/development team had departed leaving no documentation or source code and I had to pick up the pieces. After two years I had reduced the work load of managing the systems from 120% of my time to 10% of my time, which included the migration from a VAX to a MicroVAX platform. I then went on to provide technical, development and data analysis support to the companies consulting arm for projects in the UK and EU. Beyond that I created new systems to collect the data, edit and publish :-- The Medical Directory (Details of all Doctors in the UK, Book and CD)- The Institute of Health Service Management Yearbook (Details of all health institutions in the UK)- CRIB (An on-line directory of research grants being funded in UK Universities) I was also tasked with producing several Financial Times Yearbook publications at very short notice. To do this I created the 'Quick and Dirty' publishing system which allowed the work to be broken up and sent to many external editors. The system included workflow control to allow the process to be controlled and monitored and put all the work packages together.

Managed a network of VAX CAD/CAM systems supporting Machine Tool productionI was approached to do the job because I used one of the first pocket computers to help me do my job as account clerk.During my time at BAe I was sent on 13 DEC training courses covering VAX System Management, networks and software development.I created a network of VAX and MicroVax computers across the 1Km Stevenage site using the companies baseband network and introduced a system where a MicroVax could be configured and added to the network ready for a Tool Designer to use in 15 minutes.We also added a wrapper around the CAD/CAM software to allow printing/plotting of drawing to any of the plotters on the network and to provide a basic drawing management/versioning system.
