Disruptor Foundation Fellow excited to be challenging age-old systems to benefit the most vulnerable. I started volunteering at a soup kitchen for Melbourne's homeless people at the age of 17. At age 18 I moved to London and volunteered at Watford New Hope Trust. I learnt how individuals could be empowered to re-build their lives and find hope.I moved to Liverpool and joined Addaction as an Enhanced Arrest Referral Worker, where I worked with young people who had become embroiled in the criminal justice system. I enjoyed seeing young people recognise their abilities and move into their potential. I took my first management position at age 25 and lead the Young People's Arrest Referral Service. At age 26 I became the Project Manager of Liverpool's Young People's Drug & Alcohol service.I have spoken at a number of events, such as the Alcohol and Anti-Social behaviour conference at the Public Policy Exchange in London. This prompted interest from the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, whose advisory group came to see the services in action. I have developed a number of services which have received national recognition by Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and within the ACEVO Report as examples of innovative service delivery.More recently, I have addressed the European Parliament in Brussels on the issue of family separation and in my role as Hopeland CEO I speak at various events and conferences.I enjoy seeing people, systems and ideas come alive to help others.
