As a DevOps engineer, I have the opportunity to combine my experience with development, the AWS platform, and process automation. This allows me to implement code-first solutions to both the infrastructure and application CI/CD processes, as well as automate and enforce strict quality gates throughout the SDLC.My primary focus is the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines and release processes (utilizing GitHub Actions and Jenkins pipelines primarily). These pipelines allow developers to promote application and infrastructure code through various quality gates and deploy to production quickly and confidently.I also work closely with architects to design, build, and automate application infrastructure in AWS. Building applications in AWS allows for a code-first, fully automated build and deployment process that can scale easily. This allows us to quickly provision new environments, and update existing environments with a simple commit to source control. The last, but most satisfying part of my job is improving engineering velocity and the developer experience. I see my customer as every engineer I work with, and whenever I can make a change (good and bad), the instant feedback is really appreciated and something that product developers do not get enough of.

Platform EngineerFlux 2022 - PresentAsheville, North Carolina, United StatesAs a Platform Engineer at Flux, I get to focus primarily on velocity, developer tooling, and infrastructure. I get to build the tools that make engineers faster and more confident in the code they ship. This has included projects such as:* Migration from CircleCI to Github Actions* Building chat bots to automate much of the engineering and day to day workflows* Owning all integrations of third party services into the Flux app* Building code generators to enable engineers to easily build bots and infrastructure themselves* Monorepo migration and tooling to support a * Establishing Quality and Release rotations and processes to replace traditional QA team with rotating engineers* Managing infrastructure in both GCP and AWS via Terraform and Pulumi* Owning all analytics and customer data pipelines and integrations -
Lead Devops EngineerInvision 2019 - 2022Asheville, North Carolina AreaAs a lead DevOps engineer at InVision, I focused primarily on delivery and quality. This involved building tooling to support the build, CI, release, cloud infrastructure, and operational processes for an Electron (Typescript) desktop app. When not focused on app specific features, I spent the remainder of my time improving engineering velocity and developer experience.A few notable highlights from my time with InVision:* Consolidation of 4 CI tools (Jenkins, CodeShip, AppVeyor and Travis) to 1 (GitHub Actions)* Built out a shared library of many reusable internal as well as multiple open source GitHub Actions* Decreased PR build/test time from >1hr to <15m* Reduced release time from >1 day of many manual steps and disconnected processes to <1hr of fully automated release processes and checks* Automated the provisioning of cloud infrastructure with CloudFormation and Terraform* Built UI and performance test infrastructure with Ansible to support testing GPU heavy desktop applications* Included UI and performance testing at every stage in the SDLC* Generated simple release summaries that included every Jira, commit, PR, and summarized UI and performance test results into a single Slack message -
Devops EngineerApiture 2017 - 2019Wilmington, North Carolina AreaAs a DevOps engineer with Apiture, I focused primarily on AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD. A few notable achievements were:* Reduced the time to onboard customers from multiple days of error prone manual AWS account creation and configuration to one hour of repeatable and fully automated infrastructure provisioning via Cloudformation* AWS configuration via aws-sdk (Typescript) for infrastructure that didn't support Cloudformation* Created pipelines for Lambda and ECS (Fargate) microservices, angular web apps, and infrastructure* Created and maintained a Jenkins shared library of fully tested and reusable Jenkins pipeline steps* Automated the provisioning of various tools used by the engineering team such as Jenkins, Grafana, Prometheus, Nexus, and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana). -
Internal Software EngineerViewpoint Construction Software 2013 - 2017Wilmington, North CarolinaAs an internal developer at Viewpoint, I focused primarily on supporting the quality and development teams and automating the testing and delivery of a legacy C# desktop app and an Angular web app.A few notable achievements during my time were:* Setup and maintained CI/CD pipelines for all development, QA, and release activities* Developed tooling to increase engineering velocity and release cadence* Implemented various checks to increase confidence in a release as well as provide evidence of quality improvements and regressions.* Managed various environments using Docker, Selenium Grid, Hyper-V, and VMWare for use in the development and testing* Implemented a core automation framework used by both web and desktop applications* Integrated multiple product automation suites into the core automation framework, and trained multiple teams from across the organization to refactor existing tests and integrate the core framework* Designed a performance and load testing framework -
Software Test EngineerGeneral Dynamics Information Technology 2010 - 2013Warrenton, VirginiaAssisted with implementation of HP Quick Test Pro (QTP) automation framework written in VBScript to test the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) web based Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and National Plan & Provider Enumeration System (NPPES). Wrote and maintained many SQL data collection and creation scripts for the performance and functional engineers. Maintained functional test suites in Quality Center (QC). Worked closely with customer, business analysts and engineers to ensure customer needs were met and a quality product was delivered.
