I am a senior lecturer and programme leader for the BSc Marine Biology degree pathway within the School of Natural Sciences at the University of Chester.I have a broad (multidisciplinary) ecological research background with a focus on pelagic and trophic ecology, population dynamics, marine community ecology, benthic and fisheries ecology. Early research centred on investigating commercially important stocks of blue mussel and European lobster during my MPhil and whilst employed as a research officer for a local government fisheries committee, respectively. My main research interests were shaped during my doctoral research at Queen’s University, Belfast where I investigated the spatial, temporal and trophic ecology of jellyfish in the Northeast Atlantic. I use stable isotopes & Bayesian statistical analysis (MixSIAR, SiBER) to investigate trophic structuring in marine food webs. I also led fisheries research at Swansea University within the SEACAMS2 (Sustainable Expansion of the Coastal and Marine Sectors) team developing research projects in conjunction with commercial/industrial partners.
