Everyone collects something. Some collect stamps or shoes; I collect skills. Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with learning new things. Whether tearing down old microwaves and learning to code or understanding how to make the best chili recipe, I always give myself over to learning. Of my collection of skills, my greatest skill is my willingness to learn. Being a lifelong learner has served me well. I rise to the challenge, ready to take a fresh look and learn the skills needed to overcome. I am proud to say that I’ve always had an opportunity waiting whenever I have journeyed. My collection is never complete, and it is impossible to “know it all.” It is this passion for collecting new skills, that drives me in my role at TCAT. I approach every day as an opportunity to help shape the next generation of skilled professionals in my community. My job is to ensure that our institution is aligned with the ever-changing needs of modern industry. I impress on my team the need to always look forward to the next big thing, the next major market, and be ready to rise to the occasion. In the words of President Theodore Roosevelt: “Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, 'Certainly I can!' Then get busy and find out how to do it.”
