Nick was appointed as Chief Underwriting Officer for QBE International in March 2021 having joined EO as Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer in July 2020 and the Group CUO team in March 2020.He is accountable for overseeing the implementation of underwriting strategy, optimising underwriting performance, risk management through the underwriting, pricing and product governance framework, underwriting authorities and referrals, business planning, pricing/ data science, product management and outwards Reinsurance. He is a member of the Executive Management Board (EMB) and is a member of the Group Underwriting Committee (GUC).He has 28 years of underwriting leadership experience across major Global GI organisations including RSA, Aviva, Axa, AIG and Zurich.. Roles have included Property Underwriting and Management, Cat Exposure Management , P&L Leadership, Strategy, Global GI Director, Risk & Governance, Technical Underwriting and as a Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). He was also previously the Chair of IQUO and Aviva Life Services Ltd and an external advisor to the Kent University Union Finance & Risk Committee.Nick has also served as Managing Chair of Climatewise , sits on the CII Professional Standards Committee and the CII Society of Underwriting Professionals. Nick is currently the chair of the ABI Commercial Committee.He is passionate about career development and mentoring / coaching people as they look to develop their careers in Insurance and their potential having benefited from being mentored throughout his career. Nick holds a degree in History, the ACII and an MBA from City University where he specialised in the impact of technology on Underwriting, economics and business strategy.
