• Contractor w/ the Surveillance, Innovation and Research Team in the Polio Eradication Branch of the Centers for Disease Control’s Global Immunization Division. CDC is a major stakeholder in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). Responsibilities extend to global polio surveillance KPI reporting, including, national and sub-national surveillance measures, figure and table creation and global mapping of polio cases and surveillance performance. • The World Health Organization (WHO) maintains a global polio database, Polio Information System (POLIS). Responsibilities include downloading/cleaning data from POLIS weekly and interfacing w/ WHO staff to detail data errors, including duplicated data, erroneous values, and missingness. Responsibilities also include creating global population datasets at the country, province and district level based on WHO and United Nations estimates and working w/ WHO global spatial files to do mapping• A member of GPEI’s Outbreak Response and Preparedness Group's Data Analytics Working Group (DAWG), focusing on timeliness of outbreak responses. Built an outbreak and virus breakthrough database for the DAWG, allowing epidemiologists to examine and improve global responses to virus outbreaks. • Part of a development team within SIR creating R packages to share w/ global partners. These packages automate downloading, cleaning, and error messaging of global polio data, as well as standardizing KPI measures and figure creation. Sharing these packages w/ outside partners allows anyone w/ approved WHO access to recreate CDC datafiles and reproduce analyses. The packages also allow field staff to download relevant polio data quickly in locals w/ limited internet connectivity. • Responsibilities: Data cleaning and preprocessing including QA/QC, R package development, functional programming, maintenance of analytical reports, figure, table and map creation, ad hoc analyses, and interfacing with global field staff and WHO staff

I worked as a research assistant to Dr. Paula Stephan on a study of market concentration of federal funding of universities. This included working with large data sets, calculating measures of market concentration based on this data and then presenting that data visually in various graphs. In doing this work I spent many hours in front of a computer screen and had to diligently track my progress and ensure that there were no careless errors on my part. Data was presented primarily in Microsoft Excel, a program at which I am skilled.

I worked as a lifeguard for two years. I was certified as a lifeguard as well as in CPR. I worked as a head lifeguard while there. This meant that when the pool manager was not present I was in charge of the pool as well as being responsible for the other guards on duty. As part of the job I was trained in how to manage the pool pumps and performed regular maintenance on them. I also had to maintain cordial relationships with the members there as well as discipline their children when pool rules weren't being folowed

Carried club bags for members playing golf. The job was largely customer service based in that I had to learn what the golfer wanted me to do for him or her. I had to be able to engage them in conversation if they had a desire to talk or be quiet if they didn't want to speak with me. I had to clean golf balls and clubs after use and always know distances to the tee. As well as provide advice and then maybe bear the blame if my advice was ill advised or the golfer played poorly.
