I acted as the central point of contact and co-ordination for all communications work within the NIHR ARC NWL and I had the following responsibilities:• Provide advice and support to staff producing related programme communications tools such as research updates, reports/brochures or videos. This includes ensuring they adhere to corporate identity guidelines, sourcing value for money suppliers, quotes, editing, plain English check, proofing and seeing projects through production• Maintain and develop the ARC NWL website, including drafting content and design, and ensuring the ARC NWL content on other websites (e.g. Department of Primary Care and Public Health) is also maintained.• Play an active role in collecting, drafting and co-ordinating quarterly and annual progress reports.• Work with the CLCB theme lead, contribute to the design, content and organisation of regular quarterly CL events, including help plan agendas, contact speakers, work with core team to arrange sessions, contributing to booklet content and design, liaise with events team, and co-ordinate the programme on the day. Support this research theme to improve internal communications within the ARC.• Liaise with the Patient Public Involvement and Engagement to support communications and engagement with patients and the public.• Support the communication of the ARC COVID projects/work which has become a major area of focus over the last year and support related communications work that the ARC Director undertakes.

Lead the development and delivery of the cross-ARC communications strategy and the delivery of key tasks in the delivery plan, including:• Develop communications approaches for target audiences and priority themes to support NIHR’s communications objectives• Working with a website development agency, deliver a cross-ARC website, developing content, reviewing information architecture and look and feel• Project manage the design and implementation of communication campaigns based around NIHR’s priority themes, such as multimorbidity and frailty• Work with NIHR to develop content about the ARC programme for use on the central NIHR website• Maintain and develop the cross-ARC Twitter account and other social media activity• Develop, write and copy-edit cross-ARC stories, case studies and media pitches on key issues• Develop innovative and engaging communications methods such as videos and other multimedia products• Ensure scientific accuracy while also engaging a broad range of audiences in ARCs’ research• Develop materials and literature that explain and showcase the ARC programme, for use across all ARCs and by NIHR• Project manage the design and delivery of the cross-ARC newsletter, while developing a subscriber acquisition plan• Represent the NIHR ARC network at national events• Ensure the NIHR brand is effectively implemented on all communications materials• Manage the regular ARC communications leads meetings• Work closely with regional Communications Leads from across the ARCs and NIHR🌐 https://www.nihr.ac.uk/explore-nihr/support/collaborating-in-applied-health-research.htm

Plan and deliver communications activity, to support the LCRN management team by: • Working proactively to develop and maintain the Network's positive reputation • Ensuring the Network's membership and workforce are kept engaged and informed • Communicating local performance on clinical research delivery openly and transparently • Building and supporting strong local stakeholder relationships • Increasing engagement with the NIHR/NIHR Clinical Research Network brand • Raising awareness of clinical research, and local participation opportunities, amongst patients, carers and the public • Delivering the local response to national NIHR/Clinical Research Network campaigns • Ensuring the Network operates in line with national brand guidelines and communications guidelines • Managing a communications budget and achieving value-for-money use of resources •Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of communications projects, campaigns and plans to support the delivery of the LCRN’s overall vision and objectives. • Providing specialist communications advice and support to the LCRN’s key decision makers on an ongoing basis. • Line management of an administrative service colleague supporting the communications function🌐 https://local.nihr.ac.uk/lcrn/south-west-peninsula/
