o Served as the Technical Service Engineer for the utilities unit. Optimized the Inlet Water Clarification Plant (IWCP) to attain a more pure service water in the refinery. Completed performance updates for various pieces of equipment in the unit. Ran computer based unit simulations to solve refinery process issues.o Completed 2014 Mid-Year Utilities Budget Update. Found the cost for nitrogen, oxygen, and water for the year 2014. Used historical flow and worked with procurement to get historical pricing of each utility to each unit in the refinery. o Completed numerous environmental release calculations. Determined the beginning and end to the event and to also determine temperature, pressure, composition, etc. to determine amount of each material released to atmosphere.o Assisted in a major refinery turnaround. o Developed chronic leaker packages for LDAR. Determined valves in the refinery that had been found leaking by multiple times. Handed these packages off to maintenance to get valves repaired.o Created a new Cooling Water Tower sampling procedure to be used in the refinery. This procedure used the El Paso Method and was based off of TCEQ's sampling manual.
Environmental Co-Op
o Completed environmental audits during refinery turnaround. Primarily identified any minor oil spills in the refinery and ensured that both hazardous and non-hazardous waste was placed in the proper location and was properly identified.o Developed drawings for all equipment applicable to Benzene NESHAPS.o Investigated one hydrocarbon leak to the flares. Audited towers throughout the refinery known to be high in H2S.o Completed H2S sampling every two hours on a barge to ensure H2S emissions were in compliance.
