Paramedic
• Assists the Charge Nurse, RN or LPN with patient care activities involving activities of daily living.• Assist nurses with patients and perform all necessary duties including: IV’s, drawing blood, operating 12 lead ECG machine, checking patient blood glucose levels, transporting patients, cleaning patient beds, stocking materials, cleaning/changing patients, splinting, suture removals, suture, I/D and pelvic tray setups, getting vital signs, flu/MRSA/strep swab, operating patient telemetry monitors, and foley/straight catheters.• Give patients discharge instructions and teach patients proper discharge protocol.• Taking radio reports from EMS.• Demonstrates self-motivation by using unassigned time to perform duties that contribute to the efficient and safe functioning of the unit.• Assist M.D. with central lines, wound care, locating charts, reports and equipment.• Participates in teamwork to contribute to the efficient and safe operation of the unit.• Remains in assigned work area and/or keeps Charge Nurse/RN informed of whereabouts throughout the assigned shift at all times.
