Leadership of the 3rd party portfolios for the UK , Europe and Dubai; responsible for technical underwriting capability, loss ratio plan delivery, risk appetite, portfolio management, pricing strategies, reinsurance, underwriting quality, exposure management, technical aspects of policy wordings, conduct risk and customer/compliance policies.

Responsible for driving underwriting performance and creating best practice portfolio management across commercial lines and upskilling portfolio management capabilities. Role included leading the portfolio management workstream for a transformation program, identifying new data sources and platforms/visualisation to improve data analysis and pricing. Development of tracking and monitoring of key portfolio KPI’s to drive and improve performance

Leadership of the underwriting strategy and execution for a growing £400m multiline portfolio including flow, case underwriting up to £50m T/O, e-trade and schemes. Responsible for the profit and loss, technical standards and controls and governance. Responsible for 50 people including the distribution centre for small package.

Devise, set and implement the underwriting and pricing strategies, portfolio management and profit and loss responsibility for the Commercial Broker and Zurich Municipal casualty and speciality (D&O, PI and PA/BT) portfolios. A member of the UKGI Underwriting Leadership team (reporting to the CUO) with accountability for the technical underwritings standards and governance for all UK underwriters for these lines of business. Handle the most complex referrals including those exceeding UK authority, key customer/supplier negotiations and pricing decisions.Underwriting Business partner for the Commercial Broker division, responsible for the underwriting performance of the business including strategy, planning and execution. Represent underwriting on the Commercial Broker leadership team.Key successes include delivering a better than planned loss ratio performance whilst implementing an underwriting change programme that increased the empowerment and decision making ability of underwriters.

Leadership of the underwriting and pricing strategies, portfolio management and profit and loss responsibility for the Commercial Broker casualty and motor portfolios (c£400m GWP), including the largest EL book in the UK market. A member of the Commercial Broker Underwriting Leadership team and accountable for the technical underwriting standards and governance for all the underwriters for the lines of business.

Profit and loss responsibility for the casualty lines of business across Zurich Commercial Broker and Zurich Municipal. Led a team of experienced casualty underwriters who acted as referral point and decision makers for the most complex UK risks. The role included liaising with pricing and reserving actuarial teams, claims, risk engineering, distribution and other key functions to enable formulation and communication of underwriting strategy and pricing. Key successes included the achievement of business plans, development and implementation of a new PL rating tool, development of Product Recall capability and ‘Corporate Focus’ mid-market proposition’ in conjunction with Property.
