My current focus is leading transformational procurement initiatives in Virgin Money with the aim of reducing the cost base and solutions that support the Bank's strategy. I am the procurement lead for high value and complex IT procurement projects for the Bank. Working with the business to develop and realise opportunities that are complex in their nature, and deliver the right outcomes.I previously led the IT procurement team which focused on IT outsourcing and application software. At all times providing a much valued service to the Bank in advising and delivering these procurement projects and subsequent contract management. This is due to the benefits that have been delivered in terms of sustainable costs savings, value add, transformation of the service, improved service levels and service models, while ensuring that the contractual risk is managed appropriately and there is an appropriate contract management framework in place.I have delivered procurement initiatives in the areas of application development and management outsource, IT testing outsource, IT systems and application development, IT hosted solutions, software licensing and telecoms outsource.Also outwith IT procurement in the areas of call centre services, ATM/debit card processing outsource, cash centre services, cash in transit services, professional services and revenue generating contracts.

I led a team of 10 buyers and support staff who were resposible for the procurement of power infratsutcutre and equipment for telephone excahnges (including standby generators and power racks), building security (including secuirty guards, CCTV, alarms), equipment racks and office supplies. The combined value of these areas was £160m per annum. Savings of £12m were achieved in the year up to June 2001. I worked with the individuals in the team in terms of personal development so improving the effectiveness of the team and allowing the individuals to develop. In particular developed graduate and trainee buyers.

I was responsible for the purchase of captial engineering equipment for water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants, and pipelines. I implemented a strategy of preferred vendors for specific product catogories so achieving savings by leveraging the total demand and driving savings through standardisation. I also established regular review meetings with key equipment suppliers to review forecasts and demand. I had to ensure that the procurement initiatives I was responsible for were compliant with EU procurement regulations and directive.
